Barker Field Dog Park

City of Richmond based dog park. Located in Byrd Park, this off-leash dog park has separate areas for small and large dogs. It's a popular spot for local dog owners. A lot of people have stated that sometimes the large dog side gets a bit wild. Barker Field is great because its right by Dogwood Dell and there are many wide-open spaces and great walking trails nestled into a nice quiet neighborhood.

Chimborazo Dog Park

City of Richmond This expansive 30-acre park offers a 180' view of the city. It is also home to the National Battlefield Park headquarters and one of Richmond's most unique statues, a miniature of the Statue of Liberty.  The park house on the eastern edge of the park can be rented for small meetings or events, and the popular Church Hill Dog Park is located on the eastern lower terrace of the park. The Dog Park includes two areas: one for large dogs and one for small dogs.
The Chimborazo Playground, located just one block from the park, was renovated in 2009. It also includes a community garden making it a perfect spot for the entire family. The dog park is open from sunrise to sunset.

Dorey Park and Recreation Center

This Henrico, Virginia park, located just outside of Richmond in Henrico County, has a fenced dog park area where your dog can run off-leash. Dorey Park also has an off-leash dog park, 1-acre open clearing in size, with 6-foot enclosed fence with two areas: one for small dogs and the other for larger dogs. For everyone’s safety and enjoyment please watch your dog.  Dorey Park is also home to a new splash pad, so little ones will love visiting and having fun too!

Fort Lee Dog Park

Located in Prince George County, Va the quarter-acre, fenced-in facility is a dog park and place where family pets can exercise and play off-lease. There are no breed restrictions in the park, and it is open from sunrise to sunset every day. There also are two picnic tables and two benches located inside the recreation area.  Fort Lee Dog Park, adjacent to the Bowling Center behind the frame shop/Department of Motor Vehicles building on Battle Drive.  This dog park is located on post.

Goyne Park

Located in Chester next to Ecoff Elementary School, this 49-acre site hosts a variety of athletic activities. The western portion of the park offers fields for football, soccer and baseball, as well as tennis courts, a playground, and picnic shelter. The eastern portion of the park features an 18-hole disc golf course. This Chester dog park is home to a shaded large open run and is a great location.

Northside Dog Park

Located in Richmond’s Bellevue neighborhood, Northside Dog Park is a pup’s paradise for dogs of all sizes.  With separate areas for large and small dogs, this off-leash dog park offers ample space for your furry friend to run and make new friends.  Complete with shaded benches, water stations, doggie bags, and regular events hosted by the Ruff House Dog Park, Northside Dog Park is the perfect spot for any dog owner looking to socialize their pup in a safe environment.

Phideaux field

Forest Hill Presbyterian Church has a private off-leash dog park. It is open to the public and provides a safe and spacious environment for dogs to play and socialize. The park is rarely crowded, which means your pet will have plenty of room to play . Bowls of water and “doggie bags” are provided . The park also hosts an annual Blessing of the Animals on the first Saturday in October each year in recognition of the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi . this dog park is loved by Richmonders and their pups.

Pole Green Dog Park

This Hanover County, Virginia dog park has a 6-foot fence and dog agility equipment.  If your dog needs a little break, put them in the time-out pen for a little bit to regroup.  There are clean waste stations and water stations and benches for the human visitors as well.  This Hanover dog park is open daily from dawn until dusk.

Ruff Canine Club

Ruff Canine Club is a private membership dog park and bar dedicated to building community, promoting positive canine ownership, and providing members with excellent activities and service. All dogs must be current and provide documentation on required vaccinations: DHLPP, Bordetella, and Rabies. Dogs one year and older must be spayed or neutered to enter the park. Puppy members must be at least 4 months of age and have completed puppy shots to enter. While you have to pay to visit this amazing dog park, you can try out a day pass for 10 dollars or pay for a membership.

Cost is $275 every 12 months for 1 dog or 430 every 12 months for 2 dogs. You can also pay monthly at $30 every month for 1 dog or $45 every month for 2 dogs. Be sure to check out the fun events hosted at Ruff Canine club every month!It’s a place where your furry four-legged friends can stretch their legs and meet new friends, but it’s also a park where the adults can have fun.“Ruff Canine Club is Richmond’s only dog park and bar,” said Ruff Canine Club owner Natalie Moore.
While your dog enjoys the acre of turfgrass, you can enjoy the bar, which offers local beers on eight taps, wine and hard seltzers. The kitchen also serves sandwiches, soups and salads, and shareable dishes like salsa and pimento cheese. This is a must stop activity for adults and pups to have a guaranteed great time.

Ruff House Dog Park at Rockwood Park

Located in Chesterfield County, VA.  This dog park is maintained by Chesterfield Parks and Recreation.  The only county-owned site in Chesterfield County is the Ruff House Dog Park located in Rockwood Park. The park offers two kennels with benches, water and close parking for you and your dog to enjoy.  Ruff House Dog Park is a large, fenced dog park perfect for both small dogs and large dogs.  There are water features available to rinse dog feet and refill water bowls.  There is not a lot of shade at this park. My children love watching the dogs run and play from outside of the fenced area dog park. Hours of Operation at Ruff House Dog Park: 730am - Dark.

Short Pump Dog Park

Located in Henrico County, Virginia the Short Pump Park Dog Park has separate areas for small and large dogs, each surfaced by a synthetic grass specifically designed for dog parks.  All dog owners must have current license tags available and dogs free of contagious diseases and parasites.  Dog handlers must be in view and in control of their dog(s) at all times. Dog handlers must be 16 years of age or older.  Children ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.  This Henrico County Recreation spot includes a dog park, spray fountains, athletic fields, play equipment, picnic facilities, and a restored 1902 two-room schoolhouse.

Would definitely recommend bringing your own doggy poop bags as these dog parks are not always stocked for you! Having a water bowl in your car is a great idea as well, even though there are stations at these dog parks.
