Veritas Vineyard and Winery is one of my favorite wineries to visit year-round and take in the Blue Ridge Mountain views in the heart of Virginia wine country. Sit on the sun-drenched deck and take in the live music or cozy up in an igloo at festive special evenings in the winter and enjoy the fine hospitality coupled with the exquisite Veritas wine quality and enjoy the best view with people you love. No matter when you visit Veritas Vineyard and Winery, the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains will welcome you and have you wanting to stay and sip while!

Veritas has been a Virginia favorite for years, but the concept began to initially grow in 1999 when owners Andrew and Patricia Hodson planted a few acres of vines / grapes where Saddleback Farm once existed. Thankfully for the rest of us, they were very successful, and Veritas has grown significantly since those early years and Veritas Winery is now a thriving family business with a tasting room, farmhouse bed and breakfast, wedding venue and event space built on hard work and dedication.
Patricia and Andrews three children all joined them at the family winery in various capacities, Emily Hodson is their lead winemaker. Son George Hodson is the General Manager and daughter Chloe is the winery's Project Manager. With parents and children working alongside each other and grandchildren present in this family run operation, the winery is perfect for families. The hard work and dedication of their team has helped Veritas rise to one of the top Virginia Wineries in the Monticello wine region and beyond with their complex portfolio of wines!
What Wines Does Veritas Grow and Produce?
Veritas is home to many different wines including white wines, red wines, reserve wines, and sparkling wines. So, no matter what your wine preference is, Veritas has something has something for you. White Blend Options at Veritas Winery - Veritas produces a Sauvignon Blanc, Saddleback Chardonnay, Reserve Chardonnay, Viognier and my personal favorite White Star. They also produce dessert wines as well! Red wines - Delicious red wine options include Rose, Sparking Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Manseng, Cabernet \Sauvignon, and Red Star. The sparking Rose is to die for delicious with hors d'oeuvres and I also love the Scintilla non-vintage as well! You cannot go wrong with any option from these award winning wines!
Is Veritas Kid and Family Friendly?
100% - Veritas is an Afton, Virginia winery where you can bring your young children and family. The open outdoor space is perfect for children to run. Bring a soccer ball or a football and let them frolic while the adults sit and enjoy a glass of wine looking at the mountains and listening to children’s laughter! The outdoor concert series in the summer is particularly perfect for families as well!
When I travel with my children, I like knowing there are options available for them to run and be free while the adults have fun. Veritas has nailed this experience with the ability to bring a blanket and sit and enjoy food and drinks on the lawn, grab a seat on the terrace or picnic tables or to head to the grove. Your family can bring outside food for picnics as well.
Fur children are also welcome at Veritas Winery as well as long as they are on a leash and do not come inside the tasting room or ballroom.
What Sets Veritas Winery Apart from the Many Other Local Wineries?
Veritas is so welcoming and comfortable for guests both in the indoor tasting room and outdoor area. Sitting down by the fire in the tasting room or enjoying wine tastings at Veritas feels like being in a friend’s living room. The ambiance is cozy and lovely, and you will not want to get up (unless you are ordering another glass of their elegant wines).
Being able to stay on property at the Veritas farmhouse is such a wonderful amenity for visitors as well. Be sure to book far ahead of your visit, as the farmhouse is very popular and books quickly. Escape the busy day to day life and slow down in a few days of the country life while sipping Veritas Wines.
Is there Dining / Food Available at Veritas?
The tasting room has a menu of delicious shareable food to eat indoors or outside on the terrace or picnic tables. If you would like to check out the menu ahead of time of your visit, check the menu out here.
I highly recommend the charcuterie board and picking up a smores pack to make on your way out, especially if you are bringing your family!
Farmhouse Dining at Veritas Winery
If you are staying at the farmhouse, you will experience the exquisite four course dinner prepared by the Executive chef. This Veritas Winery dining option is geared towards 16 and up. Sunday brunch at the farmhouse is a fabulous three course menu with bottomless sparkling!

Igloo Seating at Veritas Tasting Room
If you want to make your visit to Veritas to a little extra special, rent a private picnic area with igloos and tableside service! This is a 100$ rental fee for this experience but will be worth every penny!

Veritas Winery can accommodate larger groups and private tastings as well for any special occasion your friends or family want to celebrate. Veritas also is home to many stunning wedding day celebrations as well if you are looking for a gorgeous wine country setting for your wedding backdrop.

The Veritas Wine Club is such a great way to access the wine selection when you cannot make it to the winery in person! Enjoy quarterly shipments of hand selected wine, discounts on wine at the winery or online, special tickets for summer concert series, and savings on other Veritas Winery events. Pricing is dependent on the number of bottles that you select in your wine club subscription, but this is such a fun gift for a loved one or for yourself, so you never run out of your Veritas Winery favorites.
