Best VA Family Beach Trip Yet at Delta Marriott Bayfront Suites
If you have taken small children to the beach as parents, you will know that while there are tons of fun memories being made, it is stressful. Waves are scary when you have little kids running around who may be overly confident or take off. If you are outnumbered like my husband and I are by children - the beach is often not relaxing. You are running and tag teaming the entire time. However, what I love about the bayfront side of Virginia Beach is that there are no waves. The water is clear and shallow even really far out and it is PERFECT for young children.
Our trip to Delta Marriott Bayfront Suites confirmed that we would only do bayfront beach trips until the boys are a bit older because we were actually able to sit on the beach and relax and talk while the boys safely played in the water for HOURS. It was a game changer for our stress levels as parents and the overall enjoyment for our family and kids too.
But the easy access of this trip doesn't end at the safety of the water, it extends to the guest accommodations as well.

The suite waterfront hotel is perfect for families who are just looking for a short getaway and do not want to rent an entire house. Every room at Delta Marriott Bayfront Suites has a mini fridge and microwave which is perfect for packing snacks and drinks to have in the room. Each one of the beautiful suites feature balconies as well which is nice to grab a cup of coffee and watch the sun rise or set! The sofa pulls out into a sofa bed as well and is at the front of the room layout, so it feels very separate from the two queen beds at the back of the room.
The layout of the suite and living areas make it feels spacious and perfect for families to spread out in the living room after a long, big day playing in the sun and sand. There are various room options like the two-bedroom suite if you want additional space for separate sleeping. All guest bookings include free wi-fi / complimentary wi-fi as well. The suite accommodations and luxurious bedding and finishes exceeded my expectations going in!
Does Delta Hotels by Marriott Virginia Beach Bayfront Suites have a pool?
YES! While the seasonal outdoor swimming pool is not large its perfect to have a break from the sand! The sparkling waters of our outdoor pool may get packed during the peak summer beach travel season. But when we went mid-week in May we had it pretty much to ourselves which was nice. The pool does not have life vests for younger children, so if you have little ones be sure to pack your life jackets for them before leaving home! There were tons of outdoor seating by the pool with ocean views. Towels are provided for guests by the pool. There is cabana seating available at the outdoor pool as well which would be great during peak season travel if you want to be sure you've got a spot at the pool for your family.

The staff told me that it was however the water was absolutely frigid during our May trip when it was in the 80’s outside. Either way, it felt refreshing after being in the sand and sun all day and my children did not mind at all.

The cost of staying varies depending on when you would like to visit Delta suite hotel by Marriott at Virginia Beach. We opted for a mid-week visit which made our room considerably cheaper. We also went before Memorial Day, which is when you will notice the prices get more expensive since that is when most families are heading to the beach when kids are out of school.
Weekend rates during summer range from 425-675 dollars per night with the full amount being slightly higher after taxes and fees.
Mid week summer rates at Delta Marriott Bayfront Suites Virginia Beach are in the 375–450-dollar range per night before taxes and fees.
Staying at the hotel was such a great experience and I would 100% pay extra to have private beach access that is easy to navigate with younger children. This is the only hotel I would say I would feel confident in taking my children for a beach vacation solo as a parent because of how well its designed and how easy it is!
If your family travels a lot to Marriott properties, I would highly recommend applying for a Marriott Bonvoy credit card. We have already earned status as elite members and received later check out times and free nights. There are often perks of applying at various times like approval gives you a 300$ gift card to use as well. Definitely check out this option for traveling to Marriott properties if its something you do regularly!

The Tin Cup Kitchen + Oyster Bar is on the first floor on the hotel facing the bay and takes distinctive hotel restaurant on the water to a whole new level. There is TONS of outdoor seating for enjoying the coastal cuisine of fresh oysters and much more. The walk-up bar from the beach is perfect for grabbing beverages to enjoy while sitting outside with your feet in the sand. The Tin Cup Kitchen + Oyster Bar serves regional cuisine made with fresh ingredients for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can also visit the restaurant even if not staying at the hotel which I highly recommend as well.
There is also a Starbucks available in the hotel which is such a nice perk if you need some caffeine to kick off your day! The delta pantry has snacks and drinks available if you need something to take up to the room! The customer service at the restaurants was impeccable.
What signature amenities are available at the Delta Mariott Bayfront Suites hotel?
Beach chairs are available with umbrellas for an additional cost. For families with small children though, I would recommend skipping. The beach isn’t huge and since the hotel has private beach access, the area isn’t overcrowded either. You will not have any issue finding a comfortable spot to sit and hang out without being on top of other guests/ beach goers.
You can also secure a cabana rental at Delta Marriott Bayfront Suites by the pool if you would rather stay here. The cabana is small, but the seating is very comfortable and would be a great idea if you aren’t planning on going down into the sand.
The fitness centre at the hotel was very nice. Say goodbye to the experience of cramped hotel gyms with non-working machines, this modern hotel fitness center was open and huge boasting free weights and cardio equipment and perfect for guests wanting to work out during their stay.
Delta bayfront suites also has a dynamic indoor event space and makes the ideal location for flawless weddings, social galas, and having an indoor and outdoor venue that provides true scenic luxury for your event.
