Great question - I recommend going through your closet for things that are current trends! Maybe you had a piece that you only wore once to a wedding or prom dresses and likely will not wear again. Maybe you are ready to get rid of items that you do not fit anymore. Brands like Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton or other designer items are great and always are great for consignment for easy resell value. I recommend grabbing some clean-out bags and putting on your favorite music and going through your closet when you have a chunk of time. The staff at Ashby are so chill and friendly and its such a open space to roam and see what you can find while waiting on your consignment buy! Ashby is locally owned by the same people as Clementine. But you can find a whole different vibe in Ashby that Richmonders LOVE. Nestled in Carytown, Ashby In addition to recycled clothes, shoes, and accessories, you'll find new and locally-made jewelry, accessories, and gifts. The popular Buy-by-the-Pound Bathtub sells items by the pound with 100% of the profits supporting local nonprofits.
Consigning / Selling at Ashby: You DO need an appointment at Ashby to sell. Please remember to show up on time and bring your ID with you! The staff will email you within 24 hours of your appointment and offer you 30% of the selling price via PayPal or 50% in store credit. Baggio Consignment, a designer consignment store, first opened its doors in 1999, with the idea of offering new and pre-owned designer clothing and accessories at a fraction of the retail price. Baggio grew quite fast, in 2002 it moved into a retail space and became a thriving boutique in Richmond. I know I should not have favorites, but I must admit that Clementine's upscale consignment shop is mine. I've been a long-time shopper and consigner at their Carytown based store in Richmond, Virginia. As a locally owned business in Richmond, Virginia, we are committed to supporting our local community and to preserving our planet. We proudly donate to local nonprofits and Richmond Public Schools, keeping unwanted textiles out of landfills. Shop online and receive items very quickly or in the brick-and-mortar boutique for our entire collection. Shopping and selling at Clementine: 10/10 a great process from start to finish every time. I appreciate that Clementine is picky about what they take - so bring your best upscale item name brands and designer clothing when you come to sell. The buyers at Clementine are looking for current (3 years old or less) contemporary brands and luxury goods in excellent/like-new condition. Clementine will accept women's clothes, shoes and accessories on consignment by appointment only. We do not charge a fee to consign with us. You receive 50% when your items sell. It is the perfect place to stop in if you need a specific outfit too - many times the ladies at Clementine have saved me when I realize someone's blazer is too small and we have family photos the next day!

I realize there are other consignment stores in the Richmond, VA area like Plato’s Closet and Once Upon a Child that are also available for consignment. They buy every day and will pay you cash on the spot, no appointment needed! I haven’t had great luck at Plato’s Closet or Once Upon a Child over the years, but I think it can be a great consignment spot for items that do not get taken at the other consignment stores on this list or your more day-to-day brands. Definitely stop by their Richmond, VA locations though and maybe you will have better luck than I have!!
