First Landing State Park is a 2,888 acre park and historic and scenic gem in Virginia Beach. As Virginia's most-visited state park, it's an oasis within urban Virginia Beach. The park has 20 miles of trails and 1.5 miles of sandy Chesapeake Bay beach frontage. First Landing offers many recreational and educational activities and has many unusual habitats including bald cypress swamps, lagoons and maritime forest, as well as rare plants and wildlife. that offers a variety of camping options in the quiet of nature.
First Landing State Park is not your average campground, the park is where English colonists first landed in 1607. Native American canoes, Colonial settlers, 20th-century schooners and modern cargo ships have navigated the park's waterways. Its cypress swamps were a source of fresh water for merchant mariners, pirates and military ships during the War of 1812. Legend has it that Blackbeard hid in the Narrows area of the park, and interior waterways were used by Union and Confederate patrols during the Civil War. Built in part by an all African-American Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933-1940, the park is a National Natural Landmark and is listed in the National Register of Historical Sites.

Cabins: Cozy cabins with heating and air conditioning, kitchens, and bathrooms are available for those who prefer more comfort. Cabins are fully furnished and come with outdoor picnic areas, fire pit, and screened in porch. All cabins are two bedroom and have full kitchen. There are twenty cabins total.
Yurts: First Landing has four yurts, all of which are in the dune along the Chesapeake Bay. Each yurt has a large wooden deck, two picnic tables, a pedestal grill and a fire ring with a cooking grate. Maximum of 4 people per yurt.
Activities: Visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, boating and fishing. The park also has educational programs and guided tours that delve into the area’s rich history. There is a camp store available for any forgotten items. There are no lifeguards at the swimming area, please pack swim floaties for younger children.

This is the best camping areas for families of young children because it is the closest campground to the resort area with a parking lot 1 block off the beach for our guests, take the seasonal city trolley or ride your bike to the beach.
Holiday Trav-L-Park in Virginia Beach has something for every type of camper. We have over 700 sites plus 44 rustic cabins. You can choose from wooded, partly shaded or open sites. Our sites range from basic to deluxe and everything in between. All have picnic tables.
